Frequently Asked questions

Why Buy Our Beef?

Our cattle are happily raised in the Colorado Mountains eating high altitude grass and forages. Our cattle are sourced from us or other Colorado Ranchers that run the same beef program as we do. What is grass fed/grass finished beef? It’s a cow that has eaten grass/forages its entire life. This makes the finishing process longer but it’s what makes our beef healthy and 90% lean. We are not ‘certified’ organic, but we practice all-natural practices in everything we do. The same healthy meat we raise for our family is the same trustworthy meat we are making available to purchase for you.

Antibiotic Free? Yes. We do not have cattle that have had antibiotics in our herd. We focus on an all-natural ecosystem. We believe in treating our animals with natural remedies.

Added Hormone Free: Yes. To say Hormone Free would be inaccurate because just like us, cattle naturally have hormones in their body. Our meat is 100% free of any kind of added hormones.

He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and vegetation for the service of man, that he may bring forth food from the earth, - Psalms 104:14

How do We Ship Your Beef to you?

Our cattle go to a local USDA Meat Processor nearby in Mancos, Colorado. They vacuum wrap the meat to retain its freshness. We ship out orders received by Monday at 1PM MST to all 50 states every Tuesday unless it's a holiday, if we cannot access dry ice for shipping, or the delivery truck cannot access us due to mountain weather. These things can cause a delay in shipment. We cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes; all shipments require a valid physical street address. It is the customer’s responsibility to provide and verify the correct shipping address. The cost of shipping meat will depend on where you're geographically located. We send meat via "Ground” or "2nd-Day Air". Shipping meat is a FLAT RATE per zone! That flat rate includes the cost of the insulated box, dry ice and shipping. Rates are $67-$166 in the continental US and $170 Hawaii and Alaska. With flat rate shipping you can order as much as you'd like, and shipping does not increase! So, we recommend splitting an order with a neighbor, family or friend to reduce your cost! You will get an email with tracking once your order is on the truck. Boxes ship with dry ice pellets, which sublimate within 12 hours to keep the meats frozen in transit. Our insulated boxes and dry ice means meat can stay frozen for 48-72 hours if they hit any delays. It is highly recommended you monitor the package to ensure that it can be received by you or a designated recipient and placed in the freezer immediately!

Return Policy on Non-Perishable Items: We have a 30-day return policy on non-perishable items, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.  To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase. To start a return, you can contact us at cross.rafter.c@gmail.com. Please note that returns will need to be sent to the following address: 925 Bluffs Blvd. Cortez, Colorado 81321  If your return is accepted, you are responsible for the cost of shipping the package back to us.  Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.  You can always contact us for any return question at cross.rafter.c@gmail.com.

What if My Beef Arrives Perished?

We recommend protecting all perishable orders with Route Shipping Protection. Route Protection is added onto all orders at checkout automatically. We don’t recommend unselecting it at checkout. Once your package leaves our ranch, we have little to no control with the package! With our insulated packaging we have prepared for delays by ensuring your meat can stay frozen for 72 hours for the unexpected delays, but Route Protections protects your investment beyond that.
